01 / WHY WE BUILT IT
A project that feels
very much like us.
For years, Harry and Rich talked about creating something of our own. We’ve both worked on solo projects and joint ideas, but Another Level became the one that brought together the things we care about most: technology, gaming, music, community and building something useful.
We both have full-time jobs, so this has been created in spare evenings, weekends and all the little pockets of time in between. There isn’t a large studio behind Another Level. It is two friends learning, designing, testing, fixing and building because we genuinely enjoy doing it.
That independence matters to us. We want Another Level to feel personal, thoughtful and made by people who actually use it.

Still talking every day.
We’ve known each other for most of our lives. We’ve never lost contact, and even though we now live in different parts of the UK, we still speak every day. Another Level grew from something very simple: if so much of our friendship happens through computers, games, voice chat and shared music, why not build the place we actually want to meet in?
02 / WHERE IT STARTED
Before broadband.
Before gaming was everywhere.
Computers and games have been part of our lives for as long as we can remember. We grew up through 286 PCs, dial-up modems and the days when getting two computers talking to each other felt like an achievement in itself.
There were LapLink Pro connections and local multiplayer sessions, games such as Duke Nukem 3D, Civilization, the original Grand Theft Auto and the adventure games we lost hours to. Later came online worlds including Legend of Mir, Dark Age of Camelot and World of Warcraft from its beta days.
The technology changed enormously, but the best part never really did: being able to share an experience with your friends.
Another Level is our attempt to bring some of that feeling forward — the sense that your computer isn’t only a machine running a game, but a place where friendships, jokes, music, plans and memories happen.
